Description

I finally began some "art" yesterday. After many weeks with no time for art, I am happy to say I finally took out my Pastels in order to try to make a rabbit. I have not dont much in animals, so it is a challenge to me. Perhaps this board, on which I have added a layer of Gezzo with very fine sand, but I should haver added a double layer of that. So I am not sure this will come out right. We will see, when it is done. Have a beautiful day with Good weather. Have heard from a London friend outside RR, that it is very grey and humid and raining and so said Andrea. I hope it will be better, but please dont send it to Denmark :) It is lovely here..... yet. Thank you for viewing and commenting :-D

I look forward to the finished rabbit, Helle. As you know I cannot get on with soft pastels! It is grey and humid still, but we have had very little rain of any use for the plants in my town, and I am going to have to water.

We can see the rabbit emerge, and your choice of detail along with it. I love wip's...because we can see the artist's thoughts, and here we can see your black lines in the face, and how you plan to fill in the body, and how you've already gotten the glassy surface of the eye with that blue spot and the white, and so on. You've got quite a bit here as it is, and you've captured many of the signature features of a rabbit. And we can feel the pastels too, you didn't blend them to make them smooth. The choice of sand was good, to give the wood a "catching" surface. I'll go to the finished piece now, but really like how you've tackled this complex creature, and with pastels of all things. With Andrea, I fell apart with pastels, and I'd have finally threw them down and finished this piece with pencils or pens...you took to pastels so quickly, and you've done beautiful work with them, Helle.
