Description

To provide water for the residents of Gloucester, Massachusetts, the Babson Reservoir was completed on December 9, 1930. The dam that created the reservoir was rebuilt over the winter and this is two different views of the overflow spillway. I just liked the patterns involved in the different views.

I seen pyramid shape concrete objects in the pasture areas near Devils Tower. I read they are to break the flow of flood waters through the valley. I do not see often these type for overflow for dams . I crossed bridge over a local lake yesterday and the water was lapping at the bridge I- beams

interesting symetry and is the water flowing free or is it coming out of the holes of the pipes one can see? I think it's free ;o)))

The dam allows water to collect in a valley and supplies the city with drinking water. if there is a lot of rain and the water level is to high, the water flows down this spillway into a canal that goes into the ocean.
