Close by our house, there is an Ash tree; the leaves are often among the last to open in spring, and the first to fall in autumn if an early frost strikes;
I have been amazed at the variety of birds landing in this tree; one reason is certainly that Ashes are used as food plants by the larvae (caterpillars) of a number of Lepidoptera species (see list !)
The Garden Warbler, Sylvia borin, is a common and widespread typical warbler which breeds throughout northern and temperate Europe into western Asia. This small passerine bird is strongly migratory, and winters in central and southern Africa.
