This view includes the diving platform and a closer look at the designs made with the 500,000 hand set lapis lazuli and 24k Mosaic gold leaf tiles. There are two flights of stairs to reach this diving platform and if I remember correctly, the tennis courts are on the roof of this pool. The water in this pool is trucked in from springs and is not filtered. Thank you Stacey (IceShark39) for some of the information used in this series.
The photos in this series were taken in the mid 1980s with my trusty hand held Pentax film camera and recently scanned. I suggest you check the tile work in zoom mode and apologize for the grainy photo.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments.
They are very much appreciated.

So that's how you get fancy with a diving board! Great shot!

Beautiful. It looks like a painting of a Roman Emporer's house.

This is a stunning shot, Dana! And, yes, the tennis courts ARE just above this pool :-). I'm glad you found my input helpful (and not just rambling grin). Not that the Castle changes much, but you really must go back some time and see it again. It's especially lovely during the holidays. chuckles Hey, I'd even be happy to be your tour guide to some of the less known San Simeon landmarks...Sebastians, the sea lion colony at Piedres Blancas, Nit Wit Ridge....(nope, not making any of these up) :-) Beautiful series!

Great shot Dana! It looks as though one would require morning coat, tails and top hat along with white gloves and a walking cane to use this exalted diving platform, ha ha!

Well, we can't expect the Hearst's to have just an ordinary diving board now, can we? That pool must be pretty deep! Holy cow! Lapis and 24K gold leaf? Another beautiful capture with your Pentax!!

Wow, your trusty Pentax came through with flying colors in this remarkable foto of all the exquisite tile patterns and general architecture, Dana. A mood-heavy shot, indeed.
