Description

Sometime in 1944... USS Shangri-La comes to the Ryukyus! Hard to think of a more inappropriate name for a ship of war, and yet the inspiration came from President Roosevelt's quip that Doolittle's retaliation raid had hit Japan from a secret airbase in the Himalayas- in fact they'd flown their bombers from the cramped flight deck of the USS Hornet. Models rendered on a water terrain in Bryce 6. Postwork (smoke, flak etc) in Painter 8. The models are the WW2 destroyer and Essex class carrier from Beyond VR
