This scene is in fact a tutorial of the Illustrator learning book "Le Grand Livre d’Illustrator" (The Big Illustrator Book), published (in French) by Dunod in 2004. This manual is still on sale 5 years later (it was reprinted this summer). In "Silvia diving", the readers can learn many functions of Illustrator 9 and later versions including the last one CS4, while assembling an attractive underwater scene. This manual is one of the first software tutorial books which has a comic heroin, namely Silvia. Here the young woman, aged 25, is diving to see an alien space shuttle which has sunk in shallow water. The other characters here are her husband Arnaud (foreground) and a friend of the couple Herbert (background). Most of this drawing was made in Illustrator (Ai8 and Ai10). The original BW ink drawing was hand-made, then it was vectorized with Free Soft Silhouette Pro and the colors added in full vector mode. If you enjoy this drawing you would be probably be pleased to see the first cover of the book:
Silvia 17, Silvia diving 2
The book cover was not aimed as a tut first, but finally because the scene, the fishes and the jellyfishes are different, my author decided to offer the elements to the reader so that they could create both scenes or mix the two ones!
To know more about the adventures of Silvia, you can visit the site of the comic project:
"Silvia (the adventures of Silvia Robin)"
This site is entirely bi-lingual (french/english), except for the balloons which are only in french. The access to comic pages needs, as said in my homepage, a secret code. But without code, there are 66 drawings in 3 galleries to enjoy!

It is such a beautiful creation and I like the POV of the lady. Must have been difficult to do it right, but you did. Well done in all.

I still prefer to use Poser to set up my scenes with Humans, but without Photoshop, it wouldn't amount to a hill of beans. I know more or less where Photoshop excels Illustrator, but I's be interested as to where Illustrator exceeds Photoshop. DO keep up the good work. DPH PS: Zygote came out with a Poser 3 Asian woman (Nude Asian Woman) that looks very much like Silvia. I'm thinking of remapping her soon, and coupled with Panko's Viet Cong V3 skin textures, could very easily be used in Poser for your main female protagonist. I'll look into it when I finish up with Miki 2.
