Description

This is my first comics draft page (page 43 of a comic album ranging from P. 3 to 48) that I did entirely by computer, without the aid of a pencil draft. It was done in Manga Studio EX in pixel mode, on two Layers, one for simple sketching with the Pen tool, the other one to fill plain black surfaces. I was willing to get an idea of what the entire page would look like after inking. But this is far from finished, even as a preliminary draft, because there will be black shaded areas on the two people here, and I have not established them now. Nevertheless, you can see that it gives quite convincing results. To be honest, we are here only at the bottom of the mountain, because everything has to be carefully checked: not only the anatomy, the biomechanics of the two people and the perspective, but also the way the room is made so that the action which will happen in the next page could really take place. Therefore I will model the room with its furniture, which is not yet done (see the Documentation section in my comic site, link below). For people who do not speak French I have made an attempt to translate the balloons below: Panel 1 Manuel: What a surprise... My little Silvia ! Silvia: OH! Panel 2 Manuel: But what are you doing here with your hands full of dirty oil? Silvia: Hmm... I... Panel 3 Silvia: There is really something that I do not understand... Manuel: REALLY? Panel 4 Manuel: Do not make you more stupid than you are. Since several months you have got the little monk. Since months you have been looking for me. I would have prefered that you keep cool. This was something between Antonio and me. Why did you pried into that? Panel 5 Silvia: This was a question of justice. And Antonio, I loved him. More, he had roots. I have none. Or so little. Panel 6 Manuel holds a knife of which the blade pops out. Noise: CLAC Panel 7 Caption, Silvia: I looked in vain my CS spray. But this also, somebody has stolen to me. Silvia : Shit! Panel 8 Silvia : B... But... You are mad... And... What will you do with my corpse? Panel 9 Manuel: Sorry... But you know too much... Because you are said to be so religious, I grant you one prayer. A single one. Then I send you back straight to your creator. Panel 10 Manuel: Hurry up... I have other things to do...

I am very impressed that you used a tablet and pen to do this- I find control hard and they skid a bit so use th e after the firts sketch is made. Its also excellent in its retro style and shows a fine use of technique, both traditional and computer.
