Description

Two weeks ago, I posted a photo of the famous sunrise over the mogotes at Vinales, west of Cuba (some 20 miles north of Pinar del Rio). But because it was a very decorative scene, I had the idea to try some postwork on it. For sure, in that field as in many others, I am an apprentice-sorcerer! Nevertheless perhaps you can enjoy the modified picture too… Or suggest better solutions! All comments welcome.

Sunrise at Vinales, for Lior

Techdata: This "painting" is a superimposition of three images modified by Photoshop Filters: Dry Brush, Palette Knife (60 percent opacity in Normal Mode), and Bas-Relief (60% Opacity in Overlay Mode). I corrected the latter one by a Levels Adjustment Layer acting only on the Bas-Relief Layer. This was done in Photoshop CS3 Extended, but you can do exactly the same thing with Photoshop 6, 7, CS, CS2 and CS4 as well.

Very nicely done and it comes across as a very desireable painting. I love the postworking techniques...

Beautiful scenery and light, the postwork is a bit too uniform just as photoshop can do for any image.

do look like a painting. Remind me of Remington paintings with the colors and all.

L’effet reste subtil. Très joli!

This makes a lovely digital painting. I like the unusual color combination and large shapes. Well done.

Excellents composition and concept !

It looks like a painting! An example of professional postwork! Without original photo it's difficult to believe that it's not painting! 5 the highest. And thank for techdata - it's interesting to know, how did you do that.
