Description
I'm afraid I have no multiple action scene today, but something a bit quieter. I suggest you zoom in to the larger picture while Count Tyrannus sets the scene....
"Yes My Children, I am awake and refreshed after my long sleep in the Castle crypt. Now the moon is full I can rise again. While my faithful servant Seaglemus wipes the crusted earth from my shroud and I have quaffed some mulled wine, I may tell you something of the girl in the picture.
Some months ago, in my Chronicles at Amazing Fantasies I related the story of the 'Wild Women of Anne Port'. All the males in their village were slain when they were but infants, and the male children taken off to be trained to be slaves to the Baron of The West.
With no adults left, the girl children grew up as savages, wild, naked and unkempt. When older, they would gaze longingly up at the Castle Guards, who patrol the ramparts, and try to scale the walls. Sadly I could not allow meetings or unions to happen, for my Guards and slaves are kept strictly away from the Warrior Maidens and all other females (bar the Sisters of Nanatek who teach and train specially chosen boys here in The Castle.) So I gave orders that all the savages should be slain if they attempted to gain entry.
But, one girl child from that village had, as an infant, wandered off into the dark and wooded interior of our Island and was found by a dragonling, who treated her as a brood sister and kept her safe, fed and warm in his burrow at the foot of Dragon Mountain.
The girl grew to be beautiful and wild, with no human speech or name. She found a sword that had been dropped in an ancient battle and she became skilled at fighting and was accepted by the dragons as one of them, due in part to a birthmark on her thigh. A rare honour, indeed.
Every evening as the sun sets over the mountain, she watches and gazes over at our Castle home. For she knows instinctively that she is human and may have to one day leave her dragon guardians if she is to find a mate.
And I wonder, My Children, now that she has grown into a comely woman, whether she will also try to secure a Castle male? Or should I give the order for her too to be despatched? I think not. For I am a KIND Count. A GENTLE Count.
And I may have other plans for the fair child....
Now it is nearly time for the monthly feast and I hear the ' whump whump' of the rotor blades of the Castle Hind approaching. Digby is piloting in the Good Doctor Spectre to prepare some slaves for the feast. I am salivating already! Seaglemus, fetch my spitoon!"
This is the 47th episode in The Castle Chronicles, the rest of which is at 'The Castle'

Spectacular scene (especially in zoom) and very nice background story. Nothing wrong with a little serenity - and there is still plenty going on.

That's a great story heathcroft, you are a bard. Oh, what about the picture? yea, well I am really coming to appreciate post work and see how this work would only be possible as such. The castle and dragons are wonderfully set into the scene. There is an overall softness to the atmosphere that only comes from a morning out on the downs and took some skillfull lighting to bring out.

Love that dragon! He has such a wonderful expression. The 'smoke' coming out of his nostrils is a clever touch. Beautiful and pensive scene. Lovely
