Description

The history of Suong Tran (1959-1992) begins as a sad common one, and ends as a nightmare. Suong was a very young girl of the street in Saigon when the US army and the local government of Ngo Dinh Diem lost the city. Suong was then taken by a people’s commisioner of the NLF (so-called Vietcong), Ngo Tran, who after the war became school teacher, and married her. Suong and Ngo enjoyed a very happy life and, in 1991, they had two adorable twin girls: Kim and Huong. One year after, as for unknown reasons the Tran left one of their twins, Kim, in the village, as they wandered in an abandoned rice-field, they were killed by the explosion of an old mine. Their other baby, Huong, was so severely wounded that she had to be taken to the hospital in helicopter. Kim was, six months after, adopted by a couple of French farmers, and she was re-named Silvia.

Techdata: Suong was modeled in Quidam. I put her in front of a photo that I took in Thailand. In Quidam, I asked a comic-style render, but I corrected it manually in Photoshop CS3 Extended then vectorized it in Illustrator CS3. The BG image was then also vectorized. This portrait was published in CreaNum magazine in 2007 for the Quidam test.

Un récit d'êtres humains qui semblent voués à une certaine fatalité, ce qu'exprime ta composition sur Silvia. Un travail toute en finesse et authenticité, dont j'aimerais connaître la suite, Edouard...
