Description

Years ago when I learnt color at the Duperré Applied Art School, I was somewhat afraid by painting with gouache or watercolor so I made the choice of dry pastel pencils, which could eventuelly be enhanced with Tria markers. I loaded many pastels at the beginning of my gallery. Hence this portrait of Silvia, one of the youngest I drew of her, because she is just two years old. Silvia has just been adopted by a couple of young farmers from the Landes, on the French South-West Atlantic coast, after having lost her two biological parents killed by an old mine from the Vietnam war. The cute baby seems happy while seating on the sand. But deep in her heart, she is sad to have lost her parents and also her twin sister, who disappeared in the accident (in fact her sister Huong, later named Elisa, was not killed, but very severely wounded). I dedicate this pict to Aquablue, a French teacher of watercolor who does enchanting paintings… hoping that he will post more of his very elegant landscapes! A beautiful portrait and dedication. Her eyes already look very wise. I hope she will find many good friends and loved ones who will encourage her throughout her life and help her through such troubling times.

Gouache and Watercolor were my media of choice. Loved using them. Only CGI has reduced my visiting them a new. Nice painting. (Drawing) Has an Art Museum quality to it. Very good!

Merci mon cher ami pour cette dédicasse et j'apprécie d'autant plus que c'est un dessin personnel ! le pastel est une technique qui se prête bien à la réalisation des portraits et carnations et surtout on a droit à la retouche et la modification alors que l'aquarelle ne permet pas de repentir !!! Sylvia doit être une fille adorable.............

Une palette de plus à ton art. Encore une délicieuse occasion de jalousie pour moi. Bravo Edouard ce portrait est très touchant. Tu devrais lire les BD de Rodolphe Léo (auteur d'Aldébaran et de Kenya), il y a une ressemblance troublante.
