Description
For those of you who have enjoyed my Planetary Series, I have made another.
I like to be accurate with these pictures, so the picture of Iapetus is actually from a photograph taken from Voyager. (I have made the larger size quite high definition so please zoom in.)
"Iapetus is the third largest of Saturn's moons behind Titan and Rhea. Iapetus has an unusual surface, one half of which is very dark, the other half very light.
This strange and bright moon is composed predominantly of water ice.
It is for this water that the High Elves came to Iapetus, uncounted years before the First Age of Man. They came to replenish the fuel for their great grey ships that carried them silently between the worlds and their Elvish Places.
To guard this vital water source, the Elves left two of their best warriors, Dra'ainah and Bre'daina.
Here they stayed, guarding the precious water for many thousands of our years.
One day Bre'daina (being not of pure Elvish blood) collapsed and lay dying at Dra'ainah's feet. For many days she lay, breathing shallowly and surviving only on water vapour given off by the ice, and Dra'ainhah's kind but solemn words.
For even The High Elves had their casualties. When finally Bre'daina died, Dra'ainah gathered her Sister's body up and, singing a magik Elvish song, released Bre'daina's spirit, which to this day is the sole guardian of this powerful moon.
When the Elves return one day, as they surely will, then they will find Iapetus untouched by humankind, for no mortal can pass the powerful spirit of Bre'daina without suffering a terrible end."
