Description
The Hampton Beach 15th annual Sand Sculpture competition. The title of this sculpture is Entangles and the judges awarded Guy-Oliver Deveau 2nd place for this sculpture and a cash prize of $2,500. Guy is a professional sand and ice sculptor from Quebec, Canada. He was the 1st place winner last year at Hampton Beach.
To start the process, each artist has forms (wood or plastic) that are stacked on top of each other, gradually getting smaller towards the top, somewhat like a pyramid. The sand is compacted in the forms, then removing the top form first and then carving down as the rest of the forms are removed. Completed sculptures have no supports of any type. The Hampton Beach sand Sculptures are usually removed after weeks. All of this information came from an unidentified Hampton Beach Sandman.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments.

A nice prize which might make it worth the time and effort ..but I wonder how much it costs to enter the contest. This design is interesting although a little bit macabre

Well, I don't actually get what the artist is trying to say...but then again I think I don't understand a lot of modern art, LOL. But just looking at the detail on this sculpture, it amazes me that these sand sculptures hold up and don't collapse! Talented people!

Stunning work. I think the artist may have been a Giger fan.

This is what I experienced when I visited the HR Giger Museum in Switzerland last year - a deja-vu for me ... another winner in my books, thanks Dana, BB
