Below are some comments from the creators.
Like with most worthwhile endeavors, it started with a simple question, "Is it possible to import Genesis 3 into Poser?" The main stumbling block was Genesis 3's facial ghost bones. Poser 10 and/or Poser Pro 2014 cannot handle the necessary weight mapping.
When I saw Poser 11's new feature for Smooth Translation weight mapping, I knew instantly it would allow Genesis 3 to be fully functional in Poser. We would, however, have to do it ourselves since DAZ has no interest.
It was not an easy task. I had to take a crash course in rigging to learn how the Smooth Translation works and how it would apply to Genesis 3. I cannot count the hours I was in front of my computer digging into Genesis 3's structure or copying and pasting weight maps. I let out a sigh of relief when I had my prototype working in Poser. However, I ran into a scaling issue. That's when I made my best and worst decision - I posted my findings on two sites and asked for help.
I shook my head in despair at the amount of anger and bitterness that poured out. The name calling got so bad that the admins had to lock the thread at one site within two days and the admins at the other site had to admonish the users twice. People walked away with hurt feelings and I was left with virtually no new information. I tried a few things but, with no real way to automate the importing process, I simply gave up. That's when the post turned out to be the good idea.
lululee had contacted a vendor that makes Poser and Daz Studio utilities. He confirmed my observations. We worked together on a tool, but he had his own projects to work on. I took an old Poser file editor tool that I started four years ago but had never finished. I used it as a starting point and created the "Genesis3PoserUpdater" tool. lululee was very kind to test it. The words "thank you" seem insufficient for how much work she had put into the project. She was the one who helped me when I was down. She was the one who coordinated the release. She was a delight to work with and one of the highlights of this project.
I have always enjoyed working with DAZ characters in Poser and I was especially interested in rendering Genesis 3 in Poser. I also enjoy working in DAZ Studio and feel the IRAY render is gorgeous but I missed having that freedom of choice to render Genesis 3 in both software. Each one is unique and has it's own render look.
I saw a thread in a forum by willdial. He was successful in bringing Genesis 3 into Poser 11 but her expression morphs would not work. He figured out a way to get them to work and was interested in having someone help him create an app that would be a 1 click solution. I contacted him to encourage him to keep going with the project because I really wanted to play with Genesis3 in Poser 11.
In the end, willdial created the app himself. I helped with the tutorials and organizing.
One thing that really drew me to the project was willdial's desire to make the app easy to use and freely distribute it to the community. Poser users were very interested in working with Genesis 3 who is quite beautiful. willdial was not interested in the project as a monetary project, rather a community effort to unite both software applications for the artists. Today, artists like working in both Daz Studio and Poser. They are very compatible software and actually compliment each other. We all wanted to be able to render Genesis 3 in both so it a real gift to the community to have the "Genesis3PoserUpdater".Now we can render Genesis 3 in both Poser and DazStudio. We're free to have our artistic freedom and choose the software to render her in. There has always been a special connection between Daz models and Poser Software. It is good to continue that connection.
Jenn and Kristi would also like to thank the Testing Team here at Renderosity for their help in this project.

This is a wonderful idea, thank you. I don't work with DS mainly due to the fact that no matter what system or computer I install it on, it refuses to work.
Hopefully some will come up with the same thing for the newer characters that DS has too.
This is a huge step forward to help both communities, and as many poser users (myself too) will say thank you very, very much. The divide was never that poser users didn't want to use Genesis 3 in poser. We were always standing with money ready in hand.
This is stunning news, especially coming on the heels of the Daz/RDNA merger. Bless you willdial and lululee for your efforts, your magnanimity, your generosity, and your love for 3D. Poser 11 lives! Thank you Jenn and Kristi for your tireless work and your great attitudes dealing with volatile personalities.
A big an ENORMOUS thank you. I understand that this will not work in Poser 10/pro 2014 but it doesn't matter as long as we can use it in Poser 11. Like everyone here I guess I was a bit sad to not be able to use G3 in Poser. I think we now need a new DSon utility in order to use Genesis 2 in Poser 11...but it's in Daz's hands ! Again thank you so much.
That is a good news people, however I don't agree with the statement that DAZ has no interest , it should be not even included inside an article like that , it is very unprofessional and childish , without Zygote-DAZ models this community would never exist in first place . I little more respect would be more appropriate since you still use DAZ models for free .
About time. But for God's sake, look at that promo image. Wow: a chick with enormous breasts... AGAIN. Is this all you people have left to promote this stuff??? "Yessir, that'll rope them in! A girl with 38DDDD hooters!"
Grow the F up, would you???
I'm really happy that Poser users are getting a chance to use the latest figures/content. I wish that all figures/content could be compatible between the programs. But I do have to take great exception to one point made in the comment by willdial. They said "We would, however, have to do it ourselves since DAZ has no interest." How is this solely Daz's problem? Smith Micro is the one not providing proper/any compatibility with the Genesis range, they are the ones who own/maintain Poser, so it is down to them. At least Daz did the DSON importer for G1/2. What exactly has SM done towards this? Nothing. If you're going to point fingers, point them at the right people.
I had to uncheck the 'Use external binary morph targets' checkbox to get a Genesis 3 Female model saved in Poser without a weirdly extended right hand. Then I redid the last two steps to get an updated character. Now the expression dials work in such a way that Genesis 3 Female 's face seems to explode when the value of any face morph dail exceeds 0,01875. Just my luck I guess.
