The well-liked and talented Renderosity artist and vendor Simon-3D (aka Simon Schild) has passed away. His son, Jon, informed us just recently about the service for his father.
Renderosity sends its condolences to Jon and the wider family for their loss. Simon-3D's passing has also hit the vendor community and certain staff members very hard as Simon was very an amazing person and much admired by the community.
Simon was a member of Renderosity since 2003 and in that time featured over 200 items in his store. Everything from Egyptian chariots to carnival fun rides. His gallery is filled with a variety of interesting sets, characters and environments. All of his work is characterized by a sense of adventure and fun. Simon's son, Jon, wrote to us about his father's life. Here is a short excerpt:
He was the type of dad who brought calm to a chaotic world as well as bringing some chaos to a sometimes dull world. He was the one who pulled a stone out of my leg when I got one stuck under the skin playing football! He was the dad who would tell us off constructively so we knew exactly where we had gone wrong. He was the dad who would go out and work as hard as he could to provide for his family. He was the type of dad who knew the world, both good & bad and that he couldn’t fix or prevent everything for us but instead helped us deal with it by preparing us for life the best he could. The majority of this all done by just leading by example and instilling a good set of Morals/values into us.
He always made time for us as kids and into our adult life, showing an interest in what we were doing on an individual basis and that would extend to him learning something just to see if he could help us…. As examples:
He learnt Karate himself and then shared with my eldest sister Anne-Marie (4 years older than me) as she showed a keen interest. Clare (2 years older than me) at one point collected STAMPS!!! Yes stamps!!! He helped encourage it and looked into the details to help here with that?
With myself (31), he taught himself how to build computers, passed on the information to me which I built on and then expanded it into a career!
He was forever thinking of ideas and creative ways to do something together saying that with my technical ability and his creative ability and flair we should be able to build a business doing something but unfortunately we could never find the common area which would bring the two abilities together.
....After he passed, as sad as it was it was nice that he finally had no more pain or worries. This is the most ‘trauma / loss’ that our family (My mum, myself and sisters) have experienced to be fair but from the last near 2 months so far, I suspect that with time it just gets a little easier each day, week, month & year that passes with the “Firsts” being particularly difficult ….First Birthday – First Christmas – First Shelsley Walsh hill climb (A Car event which was one of the things we both enjoyed).
Our prayers and thoughts are with Jon and his family for the loss of their father. We also extend our sympathies to his friends who share that loss. Jon has shared several photos of Simon and we've created a short video of several of Simon's store items and gallery creations in our effort to honor his life and works.
