FANTASTIC NEWS! Finally Poser in the hands of a team that cares about it !!!! I know the Renderosity gang will treat it and us very well!

Rae_Designs ( posted at 7:43AM Thu, 20 June 2019

so if the software ever gets updated, will Rendo honour those who already have Poser or does it have to be bought from Rendo?

jennblake ( posted at 8:40AM Thu, 20 June 2019

We will honour any previous purchases. Nothing will change with that. If you have previously purchased Poser, you will be able to upgrade as always. 😄

That's sooooooo cool!!!! Fantastic news :)

Good Luck and God speed.

Digitell ( posted at 9:06AM Thu, 20 June 2019

This is great news!! So happy to hear this! So where will we go when we need to install or update? Will our install method be the same or will that change?

Raindroptheelf ( posted at 9:18AM Thu, 20 June 2019

Now THAT is great news! I have not used Poser in a few years, but I think, with its new home it will be a wonderful product to use.

Redfern ( posted at 9:44AM Thu, 20 June 2019

Just to clarify, does Renderosity actually OWN Poser? Example, if the "title" screen were updated will it now read something akin to Renderosity's Poser" instead of "Smith Micro's" or "Curious Labs'" or "Meta Creation's"? Or is Renderosity just the "official" site to purchase the software?

Whenever I needed help with Poser I ALWAYS looked to the great technical and artistic minds here on Renderosity for solutions. Now Poser is exactly where it needs to be, where it has the ability to become more responsive to the individuals who use it.

I'm absolutely overjoyed to see this news. Congratulations!

ghaider ( posted at 10:07AM Thu, 20 June 2019

congrats to all poser lovers

I'd really like to express my appreciation for all of the developers and support staff who have worked on Poser since its inception. It would be great to know what level of continuity there might be regarding support cases or feature requests that were previously archived and are now inaccessible via the old support systems.

SimonJM ( posted at 10:21AM Thu, 20 June 2019

I own, but do not use Poser (never got to grips with it, so use DS), but I think that Poser has found a good home here at Renderosity - so well done and all the best with it's ongoing support and development!

jennblake ( posted at 10:25AM Thu, 20 June 2019

@Redfern Yes, Renderosity now owns Poser. We will be the ones to distribute and develop the software. The next release will have our company name in the appropriate places and will no longer be under Smith Micro. 😄

samsiahaija ( posted at 10:48AM Thu, 20 June 2019

Congratulations. One little question, though. What happened to the regular, non-pro version of Poser 11? Is that no longer supported?

Billy ( posted at 11:16AM Thu, 20 June 2019

I hope its not too late to save this once great piece of software, at least now its in the right place. Good luck.

I echo everyone's sentiments here about philosophically having Rendo own this software as opposed to Smith Micro. At 1st when SM bought the software and Brought Steve Cooper into the fold, I thought someone finally righted the ship. But slowly the product once again lost it 's way. It's clear that in Smith Micro's hands it was going to die. Lot's of poor management decisions, that ultimately created battles that Smith Micro lost. So picture me down on my knees pleading with you.Stop the battle with Daz Studio. It's actually essential for content to be able to be used cross platform. You have been a market place and then a content creator for many years now. If anyone understands this basic concept it should be you. In addition, you need to spend some money and get your brokering artists on board to actually develop figures that are fully supported and work and are viable in the market. La Femme is a start. So is Dawn & Dusk and even Project Evolution, but in terms of a male figure that has the versatility of M4 or any of the Daz genesis iterations...nothing. Content is king. Daz has always understood that. Poser? It's been the obstinacy around that point that has nearly killed this software. Studio is free, you can't beat that price point, but IMHO Poser is and always has been the better software...but not when it lags in content. Finally you need to get a whole bunch of people on board and that's going to take money. But these are people who are essential to get you to the next version that should restore you to the premium position this software once enjoyed. Calls should be made to Semideau, Netherworks, Nerd 3d, Phil W, and Bagginsbill to finally upgrade and integrate all of the great ideas and products they've developed over the years

I'm happy Poser finally found a home where people care about it. Its future looks much brighter now. Congratulations.

dbwalton ( posted at 1:06PM Thu, 20 June 2019

I'm excited that Poser has a new home. Perhaps it will now get the TLC it deserves. I'd report bugs to SmithMicro and who knows what would happen. I don't see that happening with Renderosity.

dbwalton ( posted at 1:23PM Thu, 20 June 2019

Questions: Now that Renderosity owns Poser...

Will Poser incorporate iRay Support? How about more DAZ character compatibility like Genisys 8 figures? Likewise, supporting dForce clothing and hair?

If not, then go toe-to-toe with DAZ and show them some strong competition. :)

3Dream ( posted at 2:43PM Thu, 20 June 2019

Fantastic! PERFECT :D

gdijedi7 ( posted at 2:52PM Thu, 20 June 2019

Hmm. Not sure what to think of this. I actually prefer Poser (have 8 and 10), but I switched over to DAZ Studio, because it's free. Now I have a large amount of Genesis 8 products and new dinosaurs that will not work with Poser.

ThunderStone ( posted at 2:55PM Thu, 20 June 2019

At long last... it's time for poser to be more cooperative as it once was. Or is it another one of those here today, gone tomorrow like that turbo 3D making software that had a community of hobbyists here?

contedesfees ( posted at 3:39PM Thu, 20 June 2019

I'd like to congratulate Renderosity and wish them good fortune with the new acquisition. It's going to be a challenge, but I have no doubt that Renderosity will go from strength to strength.

genejoke ( posted at 3:46PM Thu, 20 June 2019

This is great news, although I'm primarily a daz user I like a lot of the differences from daz and glad to see poser will have a new lease if life.

PinkCloudSlippers ( posted at 4:17PM Thu, 20 June 2019

If you have poser 11 can you also upgrade for a reduced price to poser 11 pro? I would like that posibility.

jennblake ( posted at 5:46PM Thu, 20 June 2019

The Poser Pro Upgrades have to entry points. Please check the products. Each has the previous version you can update from. All are good on all versions of Poser, you do not have to currently have PRO to upgrade to pro. 😄

IanMPalmer ( posted at 6:01PM Thu, 20 June 2019

Wow. I've dithered for a long time over making new content, because of the years I spent learning Poser, only to come to suspect that Studio was winning. This might help me decide to stick with what I know and love.

EdArt3D ( posted at 6:04PM Thu, 20 June 2019

Although I have a license of Poser 6; 7; Poser Pro; Poser Pro 2012; Poser Pro Game Dev and Poser Pro 11, I no longer use Poser since this wonderful software has gone from E-Frontier to SmithMicro. Now that he is in good hands here, things will change ! Should we reactivate our licenses on a new server ? Congratulations to Renderosity for this acquisition, good job 👍

Nod ( posted at 6:07PM Thu, 20 June 2019

Excellent news. I've always preferred Poser to Daz Studio. Smith Micro tried, but never really managed to provide decent support content for Poser. To me, some of the figures they tried to sell for full price were embarrassing. Renderosity has some excellent figures, such as DR's dinosaurs, which I have a few of.
