New Tutorials Launched

tim · November 13, 2002 7:37 am

Members told us of several issues with our older tutorial database. This database contains a list of off-site tutorials. The biggest issue for members is dead links. Let's face it. This happens as contributors move or close their websites. Another concern of tutorial authors is that bandwidth charges for hosting the tutorials can be a real burden. Lastly, the quality of tutorials submitted to our database was not managed in the past. Today (11/18/02), we launch a revamped version of Tutorials that addresses all these issues and adds many new bells and whistles. This service will be free to contributing authors and to the members who use the tutorials. Click to check out the new tutorials now. The previous Tutorial application is still available at the link above under the link titled "Offsite Links" for those who need it. We hope to continuously add new tutorials. If you have written a tutorial and are interested in participating in this new program, simply go the link above, read the Help information, and click Upload to start building out your tutorial. If you have questions/suggestions, please direct them to the moderator of the appropriate software forum or email Our automated system provides provides communications between the original author and the reviewing moderators to streamline the approval process. Under the new tutorials app, contributing authors receive built-in promotion of their artist pages, store front, and Sponsor link (Gallery style). We hope you enjoy this new tool.

Excellent....the tuts are a critical part of this forum and site. Dead links really p--s me off. I buy stuff that has terrible user manuals...but I know I can learn from tutorials and forums. The dead links always seem to be the one piece of information I am looking for.

Great Idea ..... Along with the dead links, are several tuts that are very old, meaning out of date or for versions of software that have been out for a long time. It would be really nice if some of the experienced users of the different software would freshen up, or add new tuts for the newer versions of the software they use. Thanks Renderosity, & to the providers of the tutorials!

Ask and thou shalt was only a week or so ago that I posted to the Bryce forum about this very problem. Nice to know that either someone's listening, or that great minds think alike... ;) Looking forward to the revamped 'tuts'!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. As a mid-level beginner I look forward to good tutorials.

This is a wonderful idea. As a mid level user the tuts are very important to continued growth. Thank you to those who know and share their knowledge and to Renderosity for housing them and giving them the recognition they deserve. So many things to learn and sometimes very hard without tuts. paddy

Excellent! A special Thanks to the Renderosity Team for updating the site and upgrading the system. I am constantly amazed at the generosity of Renderosity, to offer not only the tutorial section but, and more importantly, for providing artists unlimited gallery space free of charge to all its members! This is good..very good indeed. What would I like to see? Sub-divided materials and 'morph injection pose' tutorials...things along those lines :)

Lynne ( posted at 12:00AM Mon, 18 November 2002

I hope there will be A LOT of Poser 5 tuts coming in... examples of stuff are badly needed!

Quagnon ( posted at 12:00AM Mon, 18 November 2002

So where did all the other tutorials go? The ones -- like mine -- that were not dead links? Are they gone now entirely unless we allow Renderosity to host them?

foleypro ( posted at 12:00AM Mon, 18 November 2002

Well looks like I need to polish my skills and start on some more tutorials...

bound4doom ( posted at 12:00AM Mon, 18 November 2002

The new tuts section is great and will be great for the future. A couple of enhancement ideas though. A quick sort of tutorials by difficulty and a way to add them by difficulty, Example: Easy or Begining level tutorials, Moderate level, Advanced and so on. Also, a printer friendly version. lists everything in the tutorial on one page.

Thank you. This a very good step you guys have taken for us. I like the new format but would like to put in a request for a cover thumbnail.
