Description

* Your last Rose That's there, it's your last rose falling petals down along the tears I've cried. You went out, out of this caging room, ravine-room, you went out, and with you my life went out too. I don't wanna look at you, out lights aren't anymore and I won't disturb the darkness. Well, I suppose that when I'll be sad your face will become a scratch on my naked skin, and your name an angry scream, the wind that turns hurricane, and I'll lose the words that I never said to you, but I won't be allowed to pronounce them again. No more pictures, cos everything that's passed hurts and it will be so long so. No rings: your telephone is silent now just like your heart: mine's not here, no more. Cos until I'm gonna be sad your face's a scratch on naked skin, an angry scream your name will be, in the wind that becomes hurricane I will be losing the words I never said to you, until I won't long to tell them to you no more. No, I won't be always this sad if your face will be a scratchin knife on naked skin, no more when I can say your name with only anger that I can't forget, I think I'll shout those words I've never said: they're gonna vanish out till their sense will be just a far away lament, till their sense will be just a far away chant, till their sense will be just a far away moment... till they... will just be, nothing that I can be. * --- Photoshop, 3 layers, 1 hour aprox of work from this photo of mine I took at Xmas as source image --- This poem is part of a series of around 90 of them I composed from 1996 to 1998 that I translate now from Italian to English tryin to preserve their mood, which is, unlikely my general one these days, very "borderly time" (I was in between 19 and 20 then and I was having LOTS of confusion in my mind, like any other teenager that grows up), a mixture of sadness, angst, depression, doubts about love&life and basically a pouring out in shitty days (even the most hyped up will be just a depressive side of euphoria, you'll see). I will use this poem series to explore Photoshop composition out from drawing and painting, and I would like many of you to be models for me, to variate a bit my collection of stuff. For this specific poem and piece though, I felt appying too the characteristics chosen for theJanuary Theme "Creation, Beginning, Rebirth" seen as existential meanings after a love affair gone to trash. Hope you'll enjoy and.. some more days without connection for me but at least for three days I'll be around ;)I am missin you all!!! :).

You used your original photo in such an interesting way! The rose has become thousands of birds who fly away and back! Excellent completion, Meli! Welcome back - at least for awhile. Hope you'll be back soon completely. Roses and hugs to you, Meli:-D

Hi Meli! As I was reading this poem, I thought to myself...she is young, but upon reading your footnote, realized it was past. What amazes me about youth, is how "possesive" we were. How we believed that love was connected to dependence. I grew up during the "free love" movement. Now that I'm older, I really understand what that means. It's not expecting anything in return! I'm glad you've matured beautifully out of that "adolescense"!

Thanks Meli for translating your wonderful poem! I have suffered such a loss, and although I'm sure your poem has lost some flow in the translation, the feeling is still there! Powerful and expressive! Beautiful source image and postwork in Photoshop! Bravo!

The crumpled tin foil is as of a traffic accident. You though appear as impermeable stone.

Totally awesome Meli. Went through a break up with my son 21 and his fiance over thanksgiving and christmas. It hurts even hurts the parents to see their kids go through something like that.
