Description

Another attempt at Davros, creator of the Daleks, this time through the talented efforts of JoeQuick. Having seen his recreations of noted comic book characters like the Joker, Darkseid and a soldier of the Skrull race, I wondered if he might be able to approximate John Friedlander's famous sculpt worn by Michael Wisher in "Genesis of the Daleks". I contacted him and we made...an "arrangement" (to paraphrase Davros in "Journey's End"). ;-) A couple of weeks later he provided two different attempts he crafted in ZBrush. The first of those two morphs, when combined with a few settings of Beth Capsces' "Brom" set, captured the likeness far, far better than anything I had attempted upon my own! Here, we see Davros confronting one of his creations. Or is it the other way around? Only after I rendered the composition did I realize it resembled the final confrontation in "Genesis..." when the Daleks assert their free will, rebel against Davros and seemingly exterminate him. *** *** *** Credits "Michael 3" at DAZ3D "Brom" for Michael 3 by Capsces at DAZ3D "M 3 MovieStars" cleric coat by Biohazard at DAZ3D "Dalek" by James Murphy, rigged by Xonxost at Fantasy3D.com "Level 18" by Stonemason (no longer available) "Davros" morph by JoeQuick (in "alpha") "Davros Chair" by Redfern (me)

He looks like my college chemistry professor. LOL. It's an appropriate tribute to a really evil guy considering that he and all of the Daleks were so recently killed (again) by a clone of the new Doctor; or were they?

Weird question, but does Davros's jacket have ambient settings >0? The contrast on it doesn't seem to match the rest of the scene, nor even Davros himself - I've seen this when I accidentally applied a positive ambient setting to an object. Other than that, very nice! Not only is the morph great, but you've captured Davros's posture - and especially his hand pose - perfectly; it's 'little' things like that that can really elevate an image. Well done!

You know, Ptrope? You're right! This was a free leather procedural from Mapps (not to be confused with MaPPer who posted above). On my CRT at home it looks OK, but upon the LCD monitor at work, it does have a faint ambient effect. Following upon your observation, I just used the "eye-dropper" to pull up the material nodes. Indeed, the ambient color has an RGB value of 35,17,0 and the ambient value was set at 0.1 (10 percent). Oops! Yes, each actor to have played Davros had his own distinct posture and hand gestures. Wisher kept his forearm forward and his fingers stiffly extended, giving his wrist a palsy-like tremor whenever he operated the controls of his chair. Terry Molloy kept his arm resting across his stomach or bent tightly upwards at the elbow when he gesticulated. He also presented more motor control of his fingers. Julian Bleach, the newest actor to sit in the chair usually hovered his hand over a joystick mechanism when resting, but was positively animated when he became enraged. He even brought his hand up to his scalp when flummoxed. Of course, this can be rationalized by the fact his hand and part of his arm were replaced by cybernetics after the original was shot off. Thank you, everyone, for the comments so far! Sincerely, Bill

Just as creepy as the original. I think Davros is even scarier than the daleks, all the daleks will do is kill you, but Davros will experiment on you turning you into some kind of lab rat.

Davros is one freaky Alien, he gave me nightmares when I first saw him and now thanks to you, I will have them all over again ! Neat low POV and all around scene, well done. BTW, thanks for the tip, lucky 'blondeblurr' (my mother) told me about your warp factor knowledge on Collin's (1538) last post, maybe it would have been better to send me a sitemail, as I would have never gone back and discovered your info. ~Cheers~
