Description

A (nother) little something I've been working on. I'm slowly setting up a studio in the southwest corner of my lair... I'm looking to get back into doing some drawing in addition to my CG stuff. It's been a long time, but I think I remember how to use a pencil.... You use the pointy end to make marks on paper! LOL I've set my old drafting table (I built it many many years ago) with some rolls of paper that were being thrown away by a copier company I worked for years ago. The latest addition is the light box I just put together over the holiday weekend. I used one of those 6 - foot LED strips which I wrapped around the inside perimeter of the box. It works pretty well, but I want to put another strip in the middle to even out the light. The sketch is just a random Fae I doodled in about 15 minutes. I think I'll refine her a bit, and color her in Photoshop. Now, I need to continue working on the next Prologue page for Chapter 6. Thanks for all the great comments! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Looks good, Rod! Just looking in this part of the room, I see you have a need for some more outlets and power strips....;-)
Love those insulators on the shelf

Do you ever sleep? You wear me out just talking about all the things you are doing. If you and my husband ever get together, it will be an interesting session and will go on for days.

If you keep expanding the Lair, you'll have to find someplace else for your glass! LOL! Can't wait to see what you do with a pencil again. :)

I''m only back for a few comments in each gallery, this week. I'll be back for more after the new year...but because of that, I'm saving your TNA work for then, because (as you might have noticed) I spend a lot of time on your TNA pieces (they wholly deserve it), and I don't want to slight them. But I picked this for one of my choices now because I luuuved your drawings when you posted them a while back, and I was dying to see what this one looked like about. In full zoom, we can see your center drawing, and you truly know how to draw the human figure. It looks like you've worked with geometric shapes as a base, and then started to draw in the details, contours, etc. I envy that, because when I did figure drawing, I struggled grandly with it. It's also exciting to see your figure drawing after seeing so much of your 3D work with it---3D's a whole other discipline, and it's amazing that you can do both with such panache.

As for the shot, I know it wasn't taken for art, but it's still a really cool shot, with the corner hitting its peak at near-center (see, true artists do that in their sleep!). And all the light on the whites, with all that stuff in the background. Further, I know little about electricity, but I DID recognize the insulators (Mike, no surprise, knew what they were immediately). But in this shot they look like old Chinese ceramics. But then, you have old chinese ceramics on a lower shelf: What ARE those things? Can those be insulators too? They look like pottery. From your 3D backgrounds---which are chock full---one can see where you get some of your inspiration for backgrounds: This place is packed! And how do you find the space and time to do all these projects? I keep expecting an upload from you showing a 90 foot high rocket in your backyard, w/ 15 astronauts, a launch pad, and a mini particle accelerator, telling us, "just a little project I've been working on since thursday..." Your basement has gotta be the size of Cleveland! Love the shot and everything in it. And we get to see more of your drawing, and that's a thrill in itself. Btw, those rolls of paper: Do you think that's how they come out of the tree? Like, if you cut deep enough, boom: Big freakin' rolls? (Those things are heavy too: That stand has to be prettttty sturdy.) Love this shot, and I wish you all the best with your drawing!

OMG, Mark.... You have tears running down my cheeks.... Basement the size of Cleveland..... ROTFLMAO! Yep, those funny ceramic things are BIG ceramic power insulators from 69KV distribution lines.

90 foot rocket.......... hmmmmmmm.... :-D
