Description

Dendrobates tinctorius. The last of five species of dart frogs they have in the Tucson Botanical Gardens. In their native habitat, these frogs eat poisonous plants, and their bodies are poisonous. The bright colors serve to ward off predators. There are many color variations. This one kept hiding his head under a leaf, and I had a dickens of a time getting all of him at once. I posted pictures of the other four earlier in my gallery.
