Description

This is another cache relic depicting story characters from a stalled 'portal fiction' novel of a much earlier vintage. Most are as close to canon as I could achieve at the time given the lack of 'accurate' clothing and kit and convey the gist of what I'd envisioned. Sigrid at right rear was posted in here awhile ago before being placed in character jail. Myrun at left rear was the first character I created after three days in DAZ. Wittmann in the center rear was the POV character and my second shot at character creation. All of their 'game base' renders were cleared away, but enough of their original configurations survive to allow improvement for use in current scenes. The story had too many male characters to squeeze into the scene. I think I did this shortly after discovering ROG's massive and superbly detailed Red Crow Inn. Very few if any of ROG's textures were changed, and all I added were a pair of sconces and a jpeg of the Oseberg Tapestry on a scrolled banner as one of the story cultures was Norse in origin before Viking stories became the rage. Today the story might be different on that account. The lighting is a bit of a wreck, even after a few tweaks in Windows before posting. Looking back, it's amazing how much I've learned in a relatively short time from observing the work of seriously talented artists. There's so many ideas involving too many assets from too many sales I can't decide what to do next. Thus I air out stuff I wouldn't have dared submit at the time of their creation....

perhaps some works improve with time, like a good wine, also there is topicality and there is a certain mysteriousness and noir feel about something not being right in this fine composition; love the lighting too really does seem to be candle lit

Thanks Paul - the changing (and arguably improving) of our styles reminds me of other arts. Musical styles change, and television shows that stay on air for extended periods. One that sticks in my mind is the old Star Trek Next Generation series - the characters and actors evolved tremendously from start to finish, and watching the earliest episodes after the show wound down was a bit, well, enlightening :)

Thanks starship - was fun, and a lot of work bending and twisting characters from the Parameters tab as i had a lot fewer poses and posing tools...

Cool atmospheric scene and can relate to the amount of work put into it. Sure all of us here experiment and try many different tweaks In a bid to get the characters, view, focus and lighting something like before doing that final render. It amazes me how often my final scene has evolved from the original concept

Thanks and I know - my scenes rarely turn out like the origiinal concept. Sometimes it's a lack of suitable assets. Other times it's inspiration. Sometimes it's plain laziness...

You did a fantastic job in setting the mood in this low light scene, which quite often can be difficult to do well. Excellent work! :-)

Thanks karasmic - ROG's sets are very6 good. The characters have a lot of story behind them...

Nice indoor scene, the lighting and mood are good, I think I would have had one person looking slightly away talking to someone, because there is always someone who misses saying "cheese" for the camera plus it breaks up the posed look. Excellent work

Thanks for your comments hawk - you're right about the person looking away. I actually had a barmaid set up to serve the dark haired girl in the left rear but worried over clutter. If I were to do this scene now, it would be different - from the characters to the setting - but still recognizable. Never did the males...:)
