Probably a photo run through that software that makes it look like a model, can't remember it's name. Some of the fine details is not the same as you'd see in a real model. Interesting shot, though. update Did some research - TiltShiftMaker is the software I was thinking of. Had to delete comment and remake as no edit option.

Sorry to ruin your fantastic puzzle mate, but errrr.......as a keen museum visitor I know exactly what it is!!!!!! It's the model of Chicago at The Museum of Science and Industry. And I often use a Tilt-Shift lens too so I can see it most certainly IS a real model! Great stuff mate. I have a similar shot of it but I think from memory yours is better. Plus I think I can see Chip in one of those windows. ;)

Bill, it is either a model town or a picture taken with miniature effect.

Great shot Bill...It does resemble a tilt shift process, but as pointed out above we now know what it is.

It's the model town from the classic Twilight Zone episode "Stopover in a Quiet Town" :)

Very cool whichever it is, model or tilt-shift; I lean toward model, only because it looks so clean!

Didn't take long to solve that mystery, did it Bill? What a bunch of smart asses the renderosity photography community are - tough to slip one by them...

A well made model railroad town. With your Chicago visits I assume this is in the Museum of Industry and Science. I've seen some other photos of this layout. Very impressive! I like your photo. A helecopter or high rise view of the street. The focal blur is nice - adds depth. As you see, it's fun to photograph models, especially if well made. Nice, even lighting, like on a slightly cloudy day. The give-away it's a model rail road are the out-of-focus tracks in the left foreground. Wish I could visit this layout and take some photos. Keep up the good work! :-)

Terrific model, and your photograph is just right! (I suppose there could be that much of a hill between the street and someone's front door. Heaven knows there are plenty in Seattle, but I've never seen one in Chicago! LOL!)

Tilt-shift on a model town, now that's different :-) I did tend to study the people, very 'shiny', but then I've never been to Chicago (no offence).A very interesting shot Bill, I hope you're revelation of the truth is a wider angle.

Had to look twice, Bill - this is very cool! Obviously it's a miniature, and a very well done one... Possibly part of a model train layout. I think they have model train exhibits at Union Station (Science City) here every so often. Maybe you got this at one of them? :-D
