Description

I am a real coinsure of weddings. I have attended African weddings, Greek weddings, East Indian Vedic ceremonies, Polynesian weddings, Italian weddings, Hebrew weddings, and more. I invariably cry at all of them. Not so overtly, that I embarrass anyone; after all, there is the masculine proscription against such behavior that demands observance. I earnestly try not to (“Come on you idiot, get a grip” I say to myself), but all to no avail. I have been working on this piece for some time. I knew what I wanted to do but found the symbolism I wanted to be elusive. What I wanted to do was create a work that represented the ideal balance between the transcendent spiritual aspects of marriage with the earthly glory of union, independent of any particular religious proclivity. Every wedding I have attended in every nation has this duality. I won’t go into tedious recitation of the symbols with one exception that will not be widely known. The beaded, triangular cloth in the background of this piece is a 100% accurate reproduction (including color and beads) of an Ethiopian bridal headdress. I have finally gotten this work to a point where I dare not touch it, so I decided it was time to share. I hope you like it. Created in Ultra Fractal

This is an extremly complicated fractal Stan. I can see why it took a lot of work to get it exactly the way you wanted. I have not been to that many weddings of different cultures, but am aware of many of the rituals observed. I'm not sure what the ram horns symbolize, maybe it is is strength, or symetry since 2 have become one, or maybe just the most obvious, which would have something to do with being horny. :) seems all too often that is why folks that shouldnt get married do. Excellent work Stan, have a great weekend.

Awesome reproduction. The bead work appears so dainty with beautiful colors. The coiled support is wonderful. Looks like the two pieces are matched for a reason. I can understand why it took so long to finish this very intricate and delicate image. The details and coloring are awesome. I truly admire your cross culture knowledge!! Thanks for sharing the above..

Hmm, Aires? amazing intricate details Not a big fan of marriage, mine ended badly after 15 years, Life goes on. Being a Recovering Catholic I'm mostly familiar with Catholic Weddings but have had occasion to attend those of other various peoples also, Hindu and Buddhist crermonies in Nepal and the most interesting and fun an Ewe Wedding in Ghana, Africa is just cool period. A very beautiful fractal and I think you have made a great depiction of what you wanted to achieve. A very impressive work with super colours and that bridal headress looks amazing too. I love the curly beaded bit at the top too.
