Just beautiful. I am not familiar with Austria, is that a yule log? Forgive my American ignorance. The house feel like a "home", comforting and personal.

pignifer - This is an "Adventkranz". A ring from fir brushwood with four candles. Each of these candles symbolizes a week in Advent. Each Sunday a new candle of this four will be ignited. The children sing Christmas carols thereby. If the 4. Candle is burning, the Christian child will come in a few days. (the "Christian child" is our "Santa Claus" here in Austria) This is a very old Middle European tradition. Sorry Susan, "Krampus" will get bad children... This time is fulfilled with myths and legends, which originate still from pre-Christian time. Thx for your nice comments. Helmut

Sorry - I'm a bit late with my comment - just coming back from work. It was allready stunning to see the scene during your work on it - now it's absolutely perfect. It's a real masterpiece and if there would be a ranking above excellent I would give you this.

A truly stunning image! The details are really fantastic and thank you so much for explaining to us about the Adventkranz, The Christmas child and Krampus. I loved reading about that. It's so nice to hear about Christmas legends from other countries. Happy holidays to you, Helmut!
