Description

She was just an old-fashion gal presumably from the Victorian era (early 1900's) with stars in her eyes and a little coy, when he presented her with a bunch of roses for 'Valentine's Day' and when she blushes and says: " Oh, you shouldn't have... " *** Many years ago, a friend of mine gave me a pack of very old-style postcards as a present. I had them hidden and almost forgotten, but always remembered them as a valuable and prized possession and dusted them off. They were actually coloured in by hand. Unfortunately, none of them have a photographers or artists name on the back of it - only that they were originally printed in Germany. It reads: "MY TREASURE, your beauty grants my will no choice, but makes my heart and soul rejoice !" How complex the language was then ? to me anyway - compared to now, especially when one has not had the pleasure of an English speaking education. Wishing you all my friends, a wonderful VALENTINE'S DAY - with some nice memories of the 'olden days'... LOL Cheers Brigitte

In those days one had to be well spoken to be thought acceptable. Poorly dressed 'bad boys' were usually in trouble with the law and on the run. I see what appears to be another bouquet on the settee next to her. I would love to know the story behind that. I hope you had a pleasant Valentine's day.

Digging the old coloured in B&W image and the corny V-day message, cool find amongst your hidden gems...I wonder if there any Easter Bunnies hiding in there as well ? LOL

Happy Valentines Day & ~Cheers~

I just reread the history of St. Valentine's day - we have slipped a lot since the beginnings of this tradition (800 years worth of slipping)

A beautiful valentines day card and what a treasure to have. I love her outfit it looks so feminine, though I'm glad we don't have to wear them now especially on a hot day. No wonder the women were always swooning. I hope you had a very happy day. 😄

Very nice scene. For such an old card my first thought was that it should have a sepia colored touch, but i also like the colored version very much.

AMAZING!!! When I opened this upload yours, I was particularly surprised by the gentle and pure sentimental atmosphere, so understated, yet so warm, tender and soft. Also I like your words, dear Brigitte; the sweetest I'd like to stay serious in my mind which come on, when I see this 'Germany's post'. Over all I'm very respectful of what I feel, and see in this very special picture. I love it very much, as I love you. 😘
