Description

A good few years ago we were decorating the house. Just before the living room wall was painted I started drawing on it, knowing that it was soon to be covered over. Any excuse to avoid DIY! The picture sort of grew until I decided that it might not be a bad idea to keep it, so I stuck a frame over it and its been there ever since. Inspired by Rodger Dean who designed some fabulous album covers for the like of the band "Yes" (remember Relayer) Anyway I photographed the picture and added a few coloured filters in photoshop to it and thought you might like it. Thanks for viewing

I wasn't even born when it was recorded, but, of all the Yes albums I listened to, Relayer is my favourite. The moment, after Steve's guitar solo, John starts "Soon, O soon the light" sends shivers down my spine. Yessongs and Relayer and you have Yes. Thanks for this beautiful homage!

Hey nice !!! Among Rodger Dean's cover, is there In The Land Of The Grey And Pink (Caravan) ? Your drawing looks very much like it.

I saw this in the forum! How cool that a simple doodle ended up a framed work of art on your wall! I think you did a great job with it. So here's another talent... you might be able to quit your day job. :) Great work! :)

I recognise the style, Anthony, being a SciFi and Modern Art enthusuast in my formative yers.. As for your excuse not to decorate.. The last time I attempted a mural I was just turned 4 years old, and had used coloured chalks on our back tenement stairs in Motherwell near to Fir Park Stadium. I had just discovered that my dad's chalk board ( plywood with some black board paint on it, was not the only surface amenable to chalk.. The factor of the old building, an infant head-mistress, castigated all the school weans.when they got home, until I shyly raised my hand to do the George Washington thing. Then she kept on praising me... From that moment on I decided that grown ups were just weird. I was expecting a clip around the ears, and getting dragged to my mum! I did learn how to use a chalk duster that evening, before I started primary school, though. Regards, John.

Great picture. The thumb caught my eye because the style reminded me of something, now I know what. Nice one :)

Excellent work!!.....I spotted the "Relayer" touch on first view!!...I've always admired the work of Roger Dean...A few(maybe five)years ago I was lucky enough to meet him...he is an absolute gentleman!!...it was a very informal showing of 15-20 pieces of his work at a small Art Shop/Gallery in Newcastle U.K....He chatted freely and signed old Albums & posters whenever asked...to see his work up close was AWESOME!!....This image is a Superb tribute to "The Man"!!....^_^...
