Description

The Cecil Doyle was the first vessel on the scene. Homing on Marks' PBY in total darkness, the Doyle halted to avoid killing or further injuring survivors, and began taking Marks' survivors aboard. Disregarding the safety of his own vessel, the Doyle's captain pointed his largest searchlight into the night sky to serve as a beacon for other rescue vessels. This beacon was the first indication to most survivors, that their prayers had been answered. Help had at last arrived. Of the 900 who made it into the water, only 317 remained alive. After almost five days of constant shark attacks, starvation, terrible thirst, suffering from exposure and their wounds, the men of the Indianapolis were at last rescued from the sea. Sometimes you've just got to disobey orders eh? You've done them proud I'd say. Great looking night render and searchlights by the way.. I have to keep reminding myself this is Poser and not Vue... the atmospherics are wonderful

Well, I've done a few of these ' too big for one post ' stories, so I know what it takes..... hat's off to you! An epic story, told well and illustrated magnificently. You have captured the detail and drama of a truly horrific event. I'm not sure it would be right to say 'enjoyable' but certainly enthralling and educational for those who are not aware of the event. A fitting tribute to the crew of the Indianapolis. Excellent work, thank you for posting......10/10***
