I just thought I'd post a quick update on the post-flood renovation of the Lair (AKA T.N.A. Headquarters...).
I've ripped out all the old carpet, and stripped all the old tile from the north side of the room. It appears someone years ago made some repairs to the floor – there must have been a sizable crack in a semi-circular pattern. The patch is a little uneven, so I'll spread a little patching cement to even it out a bit.
Once that's dry, I'll give the floor a good coating of DryLoc, then after that dries, I'll install the new tile, and trim. I'm doing the north half of the room first, then once it's done, I'll move all the stuff on the south side over, and repeat the process on the south side of the room.
This is a massive job, and right now, I'm pretty exhausted. But this is a minor inconvenience compared to what those folks in Houston are going through.
I'll try to post an update every so often to let you all know how things are progressing. I'll get caught up with commenting once this ordeal is done.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!

Looks like things are shaping up a bit in your underground palace my friend. Man look at that amazing work area, I see all the cords draping along the ceiling. Tina must have left from the meeting you both had from my PG 1 series, otherwise she would be help cleaning T.N.A. headquarters. Good luck on finishing it all back up. Hoping the best bro. Keep us updated, and also about Mike.
That Circle In The Floor Looks Like The Eclipse, or a UFO Crop Circle Coincidence or Not! Coincidence A coincidence is a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances which have no apparent causal connection with each other. The perception of remarkable coincidences may lead to supernatural, occult, or paranormal claims. Or it may lead to belief in fatalism, which is a doctrine that events will happen in the exact manner of a predetermined plan. en.wikipedia.org · Text under CC-BY-SA license
Oh, MY! That's a LOT of stuff to move around. And I recall all the work renovating and renewing the Lair. Sheesh! But as you say, the folks in the Houston area and now Louisiana are sure having the worst time of it! Thanks for reminding us of your progress. I like your red sign about relaxing and flying a drone. Just missed a detail, though - is it loaded? Missile or bullets? Oh, and did I just spot a T.Rex hiding on the top shelf just right of the white pillar? Wonder what it's hiding from? Water? Keep up the good work! Looking forward to next TNA (or, TNT?) postings. :-)
wow, Rod, I recognize the look of this. I had a fire years ago (in a place several of us lived in) and I remember the cleanup and recovery. Different elements, but the same idea. But water is such a horrific thing when it covers part of a home. God, that big circle looks like the stain from a gigantic coffee cup! You must be exhausted indeed---working, still, and doing all this, at night. And---I could be wrong about this, but---I mean there's still a chance you're recovering from your surgeries, right? Not first-day stuff, but just getting your body back to normal. In any case, I understand why it's gonna take time, and anytime you come back just to put up an update, it's welcome by everyone. We all know you'll be back eventually. You just have to concentrate on getting your place back to normal. (And I recognize that phenomenon of crowding everything to one side of the room, too. Foundational floors are never a pretty sight either...) And yes, Texas is getting something beyond recognition. I spoke with flood victims years back (part of some service I did back then), and they said, "water is so good, so essential; but when it takes over your place, it's just unbearable...". I wish all of those victims the greatest speed in recovering. And I wish you full recovery too. All the best to you Rod. A fine telling picture of what you're dealing with now...
OH DEAR! What a massive work you have ahead of you and that you already did. I wish you all the best of luck with it running smooth, but take care and have some good rests in between. And when you have finnished it all, you will have an amazing workshop to "play" in again :) I wish I had half of such :)
moving the contents can be as bad as the work. back when I was working, I dreaded when the home had one of really huge pianos that had to be moved, or extremely expensive antique cabinets. once I was asked to cut a hole in the back of a cabinet from the 1600's so a TV would fit and the doors could close.
I have recovered from replacing my disposal. I will make repairs as long as I can to save money. pain or no pain.
glad you are making progress
Your room is much bigger than my living room in fact I would guess you room would take up at least a third if not half my house. I could never do all that work myself so If it happened to me I would be screwed. My guess is there was an air pocket in the ground or perhaps a Plumbing line leak under the slab that caused the circle or perhaps a giant dropped his bowling ball there. Yes feel happy you do not live in Lake Houston. You certainly have a bunch of toys. Unlike you I can only play with one thing at a time (not a multitasker)
Good to hear from your Rod!
WOW! Lots of work. I wish you all the best. You might try a sander on that semicircle repair. I know when we had our tile put in there were a few spots like that and after sanding you couldn't even tell there had been repairs.
Luck to you on the repairs and hope they go smoothly!!
I have to say it's starting to look good... well that is until we arrive a little bit later... the girls and I have sometime in mind... you won't recognize it...
from these photos looks like you'll be up in no time... from the comments I see mikes doing better... have a good one!
I see you are getting the business side of the room done first. Good idea. Hopefully, after you get the place all slicked up again, G4 may pop in for a personal inspection:-)
P.S. Got your email note a couple of days ago...we'll just give you a call when we get to KC and see how our schedules match up.
