Description

The Tlingit People: “We are the original settlers of Southeast Alaska.” The Tlingit village of Saxman is located 3 miles south of Ketchikan. A group of the Saxman villagers put on a show of ritual dances for the tourists. Stage back drop: The hole in the center is hidden by the dancer, but it represents the entrance to a Tlingit dwelling. There is only room for one person to enter at a time. Therefore, if only women and children are there, they can beat intruders on the head one at a time. This was taken on an Alaska trip just before we turned completely digital. My husband was using a digital camera, and I was using a 35mm Olympus Stylus 200 zoom 80 Wide DLX. I went through my negatives and resurrected this picture.

Your scanned negative brought out all the detail a print made from the negative would have produced. The colors are very rich and exciting.
