Passing through the tall elaborate iron gates, the guards were nowhere to be seen. Hano stopped and glanced behind. The safe place of home was tinged with sadness, the huge arched windows of the High-house lulled gloomily like in sorrow at the departure of one of her sons.
Peering up at his room, his heart fluttered, certain two figures had stepped back for fear of being discovered. Staring hard, he hoped his parents would show themselves and wave, accepting the choice he had made. He could feel their loving eyes reach out to him. What did they know that he did not? Signalling with a hand, showing that he had seen them, he turned and continued out of the gate.
Working their way down the main causeway, a few trade shops were preparing for a new day. Baking aromas drifted appetisingly out to the two predawn riders; Hano realising he had forgotten completely about his morning meal. Sporadic bangs and a loud cheery voice invaded the silence, but on the whole, the city remained very much asleep.
The tall iron gates were a freebie by eaglesse in the Free Stuff, many thanks, just what I needed. Everything else was modelled in Bryce and Hexagon 2.0, using Poser for the characters and Photoshop for a couple of touch-ups.
Thanks for looking, and please feel free to comment or leave any suggestions that may improve it.
