Description

This Masquerade_ composed by Leon Russell_ won the Grammy Record of the Year in 1977. Though it´s been recorded by several top artists, the most successful version was released by George Benson in 1976. And this is the way I feel this song.

I like the main character and the way (s)he fades into the dark background a lot. I also like the overall composition and the abstract representation of a mask shape with the red &green patterns. But I find the actual colors a bit too overwhelming. MAybe the situation is supposed to be overwhelming.

I love the red and green glowing contrast. Very striking and modern and that face is amazing. A unique and passionate interpretation of the song. The mask reminds me of a gas mask and in my mind that's a good thing because this really is about the human condition and how we are each often yearning to attain the unattainable at times. And sometimes that even comes down to basic breathing.

A very beautiful image. Reminds me of here - we all hide behind distorted graphics, one way or another.

I love the red and green swirls around her face, and those eyes, looking right at us with so much emotion. Very nice!

i don't know that i find the color overwhelming. i found the piece you referred to and listened to it. it was exactly what i was expecting from those colors. when i was young, without thinking about it, i identified that kind of jazz as the sound of neon and city lights blurring as you pass them (or they pass you) in the middle of a night so complete it seems like another world than day. or rather, that's the words i can put to the understanding as an adult. i think that particular song is well represented by the face that seems to decay into shadow and the nude bodies made faceless by their poses.
