Description

Glad to be back. Hurricane Charley knocked my power out for seven days. (I did this on a laptop). I was feeling nostalgic for the way this area looked before Charley. Now, the islands and inland look like they've been bombed. Thousands are homeless. And with 90+ degree heat, it is terrible. We are all thankful for the small things. Nature has a way of teaching us lessons. Credits: House by Myr

Beautiful composition! In 2001, my home, cars, and most of the physical things I own were destroyed in Tropical Storm Allison, so I can definitely empathize with you about the recovery process (and well remember the heat!). I pary that you and others will recover soon and get on with your lives. I also urge others to make a small donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Fund (you can find the link at www.redcross.org). I could only spare a few dollars, but every little bit helps, and they were really there for us in 2001! Again, hope you made it through okay.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and comments. And a special thanks to mmitchel houston. A wonderful idea. The Red Cross has been incredible through this whole disaster and recovery.

Very good piece! Charley was something else - had me with no power/water for about 10 days, too. I still have friends who haven't recovered yet, over a year later!
