Description

Well, this is day 3 of my self challenge to keep producing new work fast enough to add something to the gallery every day! The morph and skin textures are Chailleth from Sixthsense at RuntimeDNA. The character is a portrait of an avatar I am making for a friend, so you will probably see more of him in another scene soon!

This work is quite well executed and it is additionally very refreshing to view a male being posed for a change – more so – when you consider 98% of the figures presented throughout the galleries are those of the feminine gender. This of course is not a bad thing, it’s just pleasant to see a male once in a while. Your work and attention to detail is very commendable. As an afterthought, can you tell me how you created the sparkle at the tip of his sword – is there a special program or plugin - or was it hand-done via a paint program? Keep up the beautiful work.

The sparkle was just a low version of photoshop and a sparkle brush. For that one I used Rons Angeldust from DAZ3D. I've found that some sparkle brushes take using an effect like inner glow in order to really sparkle - sometimes I get really involved in adding a zillion layers and effects to make something that ends up looking simple - but this one didn't take anything at all, just the color white and one of those brushes! And thank you guys so much again, seriously. Your comments are keeping me going and keeping me accountable to try to complete something high quality every day. :) I spent so long spinning my wheels, not completing much of anything, and working at a snails pace, when it turns out this was exactly the push I needed.

Another excellent quality render. So glad you decided to carry on posting your work as it has been a pleasure to see everything you have created. The colours you have used here are great and especially like the way they correspond so well to your choice of backdrop. A very interesting character and I'm sure your friend is delighted with his avatar. Great work.

To get something of this calibre done on a daily basis is not only commendable and a testament to your work ethic and vision, it's a huge breath of fresh air. Most of the mass postings are crap, but to see something this good and every day is a great treat. Gorgeous. :)

Thank you guys again so, so much for all the encouragement :) I actually did finish another one today, and I'm pretty happy with it - but I didn't get it in on time to make today because I'm still fighting with the format and getting the error message that its not the right size. Usually takes me 4 or 5 times to get it right (even though I'm within the stated perameters), and this time I cut it too close. I'll be more careful next time, heh. Am I the only one that has this problem or have I just not figured out the secret yet? Anyway, all your kind words have meant so much and helped me keep this on track. And after 4 days honestly I already feel myself getting better and stretching my creativity. Thank you!

This is well done, again. Remember though that while it is good to challenge yourself with time, quick time by itself is perhaps not the best teacher. Yes, certainly making oneself create is good so as to not get lazy, but some techniques take time and practice, it may be best to slow down and work on a technique a bit more than to put something out that is not done to the best you can do at this time, with the time you have at hand. I found 2 a week to be a good pace, but that is just me. For this one I would recommend a distinct and strong backfill light. Your strongest light source is the moon and yet I see the strongest point light on his clothes and with fill light on his face. This is not so natural. A rim light lit figure with a hint of fill light on his face would up the drama quite a bit. It is not always necessary to see detail, let shadow work for you too. Go take a look at Heitaika's gallery for some really wonderfully lit dark scenes that are natural and dramatic.

Thank you, I did get a little messed up between doing the character as a custom for someone who wanted certain things, and getting it onto a background. I will try your suggestions with him. Im definately not at expert at light yet, its kind of foreign to me and I did put him on a background a bit hastily without considering the environment as much as I should. I appreciate the observations, I'll look into lighting a bit more

This is outstanding - I love to see a male character who looks different than your almost stereotypical underwear model, lol. My fiance, who is a gamer and who plays a night elf rogue wanted me to add that he has never seen a more perfect depiction of the kind of character he plays!
