Description
Anything can be taken too far. Consider a Psychological Counselor who in an attempt to understand clients, empathizes with their perspective too much to be able to help them. This applies not just to those with clients dealing with fear, but to those with clients with anger, confusion, etc...

That may have made Deanna Troy in Star Trek Next Generation a completely different character to the one we got. :-) Excellently illustrated idea, though.

@Staticon, Yes, Picar would have had a potential enemy w/ in the ship who sympathizes too much with opponents of the Enterprise... :)
