Description

About 18 months ago I posted the head of this statue. There were some comments about what the other end might look like so while I was down in Massachusetts, I drove over and photographed the full statue Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

I was expecting a bit more of a tail but its a powerful looking sculpture.

Allan, it is supposed to represent a Chinese War Horse thus I assume the reduction of the tail size. Just a guess on my part.

We have an English idiom, "enough to make a horse laugh', and this back end reminded me of this!.

This is very interesting, Dana. I wonder which dynasty this type of decoration on the horse comes from? Horses were very important in Ancient Chinese warfare. The horses were highly prized and often decorated with jewels and armour. But, this one with the hearts (even heart decor statigically placed under his tail) i would be interested to find out more about. I googled, but saw no examples of this type of decor. Anyway, thanks for sharing the image. It is really a beautiful shot.

My next trip down to Peabody, Massachusetts will have to be a fact finding expedition! I also noticed all of the flowers and hearts.

I also find this horse statue so very interesting, especially one of those 'hearts in the right place' - and now I wonder if it only does heart-shaped droppings ? only joking Dana ... 'Sunrisegirl' might be there on to something ... it also appears to look like sandstone, most likely not ? BB
