Description

The old man lived alone for many years and died quietly, also alone. His heirs found plenty of business documents when they cleaned his house, but only a few personal effects. An ornate pocket watch lay in the top drawer of his desk, however, alongside a battered billfold and a nicked wooden smoking pipe -- and a miniature portrait of an exotic beauty, inside a delicate frame of old gold. "Who's this girl?" his children asked themselves. "She doesn't look anything like our mother. Was she Papa's first love maybe, or even our long lost sister?" Nobody knew the identity of the sultry lady, and nobody knew what to do with her miniature either. Since the picture obviously meant something to the old man though, they decided to tuck it into the pocket of his burial suit. If only they'd taken the picture out of the frame and read the inscription on the back... Please click for bigger and thank you for looking! *Femmina texture on HW's Dawn figure, courtesy of realityPaint's texture converter, with Maleficia face morph. EZSkin2 effects added. Frame made with a PS action and textured with one of Roberta's layer styles. Pose by lunchlady and background by Ravyns. Lights by ironman13 and hair by Ali with Touchable textures.

All right tell me what it says on the back....LOL Can't leave me hanging since I took the time to read it all. Very nice work. I haven't been able to get the texture converter to work yet. This looks great. I should give it another try. It may be because I used the 64 bit and Poser nine is 32 bit....just don't know. Got too frustrated and quit. You give me hope though, because this looks great.

Thank you! :-) I couldn't get the texture converter to work right, at first. Then I started making a separate folder for each V4 texture that I converted. I save V4, with texture, in the folder as a cr2 (character). In the texture converter, I access that file, then tell texture converter to put the converted file for Dawn in that same folder. I get asked to locate V4's obj file, because V4 is in another runtime, but that's the only hitch now. I hope that helps. What was on the back...come on, muse, give up the secret. Ok, on the back of the photo were the words "Eileen, My English Rose" and "Spring, 1912." And in a different handwriting, "Father's first wife, lost at sea, April 15, 1912."

Wow Jan, I simply loved this presentation. Not only is the portrait beautiful, but I absolutely enjoyed the story behind it. Thank you also for taking pity on us and providing us with the answer to what was on the back of the photo.

Thanks, you all. :-) That texture transformer is something else, and character textures combined with EZSkin2 can yield nice effects! As to what was on the back of the photo...well, I didn't know either, until the muse took pity on me! I'm guessing, since the old guy kept the picture, that it must've been of his mother -- and the old guy must've lived a loooong life, too! Then again, maybe he just developed a fascination with the woman who went down with the Titanic. Weird how these stories develop, isn't it? Thank you all, again, for the comments! I enjoyed rendering this. It was cool to work with all those awesome products on the market here.

I think the layer style set actually inspired this image, Roberta. :-) Thanks for the comment!
