For those of you following my somewhat "on again off again" story line (LOL), you know that my ladies have been slowly by surely been putting an all-girl rock band together. Well, we have found our final piece to the puzzle. Her name is Sky (her grandfather was a pilot and loved the old TV show "Sky King"). She was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California and became hooked on surfing from the age of four. Yes, by her appearance one would think she is the usual blonde, California, bimbo, surfer girl but you would be wrong. She has her PhD. in Marine Biology and a Masters Degree in Eastern Philosophy from the University of California at Santa Cruz. I must say, this adds a little different texture to our group which is made up of physics and math nerds (LOL). As for Sky's drumming prowess, it seems she grew up listening to drummers from a variety of eras. Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich were the first and Ginger Baker was her hero. As an added bonus she plays very competent keyboards (sorry Mike!) Her usual attire for drumming sessions consists of a tank top, cutoff Levi's and tennis shoes but she is very comfortable in the buff which makes her perfect for our little group. It also happens that the name for our group just popped into our minds as we found Sky and we immediately put it on our drum set. . . "Beauty and Brains". I know it is not original or necessarily creative, but it is who we ARE!!!!! Now I'm going to try and get all the girls together for a group photo shoot. Wish me luck. Enjoy.
