Description

It was a contest about Chinese New Year in general and Chinese-oriented picture in particular. And I just remembered the story about how various animals came to Buddha and were made in keepers of twelve years. I didn't (and still don't) know if this is a true myth but I liked this story, so I made this picture. There are all twelve animals here (but Snake and Pig are not very visible and Rat is not very noticable). Also I imagined Buddha more like a wandering ascetic than the regal person which he become later. It was nice to win that contest but I like this picture regardless of that because I'm always is finding such small legends very fascinating. Thank you for views and comments. Technical notes. M3 (Ghost of Macbeth morphs + Predatron morphs), Mil BigCat, MilPython, MilCat (+free tabby textures), MilDog, Noggin's Rat, DAZ Charger, DAZ Pig, DAZ Sheep, CP Rooster, DAZ Bull, Silverkey 3D Monkey, Oriental Dragon + Eastern Jewels, Temple Ruins, Xena's Fantasy Skirt (PoserPros). Multipass render - Pendragon AO, Dreamlight LightDome Pro, my own light. Free background from Renderosity - sadly, I forgot the author but thank him very much. Background is merged with picture but other that this and overlaying there is no postwork.

Composition first class, Kattey. You put a lot of work into it. Thanks for explaining the background. It is not the right shape for my desktop, but I may use it to start a story for my grandson. I make it a favourite. Thanks for sharing this image, my friend. Warm regards, John.

Hehe, you included the cat! Apparently according to the legend (ala "Fruits Basket") the cat was excluded from the gathering and the calender because it was tricked by the rat and came a day late. Why the tiger and the cat were not considered to be the same type of creature, I never could figure out. Anyways, this is a very beautiful scene! (I'm still trying to find the rat though! ;) )
