Description

This shot is looking across a Dorsetshire field to Somersetshire, the valley being the county boundary. The village, which can be seen on the right, is called Winsham with a population of about 600. Winsham is 5 miles from Chard.

I used to have friends with a smallholding in Winsham, a potter, and a rugmaker who used to be a dentist. I still have the Jacob sheepfleeces on my carseats, that I chose on the hoof and then went round to dinners of the meat. What memories you brought back!

Beautiful view! The land in the distance is in a band of light between the dark clouds and the heavy shadows of the foreground. I like the zigzag of the edges of those shadows. There is a sense of motion in the clouds, accentuated by the motion of the smoke and the sloping line of the tree in the foreground. Excellent capture!
