Description

Looks like she has come across another orphaned baby whose mother was likely killed by a thoughtless hunter. Ignoring the fawn for a bit might assure it she means no harm...She will try to track down that hunter later. There is something so fundamentally wrong with killing animals for "sport." That one aspect of a person speaks volumes. Thanks for the view and for any comments you'd like to leave...really appreciate your support...

I applaud your words on the hunt, hunting does not protect nature, it destroys it little by little for the sole pleasure of killing! Superb image, I hope the little fawn will manage to live without its parents!

Killing an animal for survival is very different from the hideous "sport" aspect. This little fawn was taken in by this gal and raised to maturity--it still lives near the gal's house (isn't this the way a happy ending is supposed to go?)

I see no possible excuse for the ad hoc slaughter of wildlife! I used to have a .22 rifle and shot at a pigeon as a youngster. Father was trying to train me to respect firearms. I managed to hit the pigeon but it kept on flying. Sadly, later that afternoon on the farm where I was helping the farmer on my summer holiday, we spotted a pigeon close to death lying on a hawthorn hedge. A farmhand kindly put it out of its misery and I vowed NEVER to harm any animal again!

I have a couple 22s, both belonged to my grandfather--so I guess they're antiques..neither one has its magazine--heaven only knows what happened to them...my Pop took me out back to do some target shooting...I am left eye dominant and supposedly right handed (I do believe my European mother forced me to be right handed). Anyway, with my strange eye-hand situation, I have trouble shooting the broad side of a barn :)

I love your backstories. I just knew before I read it that she wasn’t after the fawn. Such a special image, and so well done.

A very lovely and moving scene, Barb. Indeed, if you don't plan to eat it, don't kill it. If it's not threatening you, don't harm it, and if it is, you are probably in the wrong place.

Beautiful image! As hunting goes, if you are going to eat it, I don't have a problem with it. Just don't kill it so you can hang it on a wall. Hunting also takes place during appropriate seasons so young ones are not left motherless, the people who hunt illegally are poachers not hunters.

I'm glad, and not surprised, that you've made this archer a rescuer and not a hunter. She looks kind and the baby deer will no doubt be in good hands.
