Description

This depicts a group of Teutonic Knights around 1100 AD. The person in the middle is the Hochmeister (head of the knights). It's debatable whether he would be at the front of a battle, but I'm taking the artistic license excuse. The lighting was tough to get correct, but finally settled on a single light with indirect lighting settings. I made all the helms except 2 Crusader Helms on each end in the front row (made horns though) in Shade.Made the Barbute Helms using Sculptris and Shade. Created most of the textures for the clothing. All comments and suggestions very welcome. Thanks for looking!. Good scene! I think you should change the (cool-looking) double-headed axe to one with a single head. Doubles are rarely encountered in history, save as a symbol... not a practical weapon. If you gave him a mace, it'd be better. Maces were symbols of authority as well as pratical battlefield weapons.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Pakled - Yup, these are the guys, but I guess they fell short of Nevsky :) ...and yes, it was a lot to keep track of. PSDuck - I wasn't aware that the double-headed axe was rarely encountered. That's good to know. Thanks! "cool-looking" was my primary purpose in choosing the double-headed axe. :) I guess I'll have to find a cool mace or single-headed axe. Thanks again for the comments.
