Description

Ok - so this isn't a jolly image and we're getting dangerously close to Christmas. Groboto inspired me to do it - it tends to grow creepy things. If any of you has read Michael Chricton's book Prey you'll know what this is. If not, it is a nano-bot, or more specifically a viral nano-bot. In the future little things like this are supposed to take care of immunity functions in our bodies and these nano-bots (also called nano-particles) will be our little helpers. What if this technology got into the wrong hands, and instead of helping they were harming at a microscopic level..? In this shot Viral bot 4 theta is about to start doing major tissue damage. Imagine an army of these in your body all running the same program. Makes the ebola virus look like a pin prick. Special thanks to adamite for making these SEM shaders a long time ago - I finally found a use for them. And a big hand for the programmers of groboto for giving me a tool to create this little terror. Wow - I better hurry and post my usual kind of image - this one's giving me the creeps. Lol, this is a grim, creepy and sobering look at one of the possibilities of this technology.Maybe it'll replace radioactive isotopes as the assassination tool of choice of totalitarian regimes in the near future. Very cool model and excellent use of the SEM mats!!

Thanks everyone - yeah its a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Sobering yes - and wouldn't this be a stealthy way to pull off the 'eliminations' Danamo mentioned? Terminators are scary - but what's scarier than something attacking you inside your own body - and programmed to do it? btw - the nano bots in Prey are tame compared to this one - this image is just an extrapolation of the concepts from the book - what every good book makes you want to do - think. This concept has been brewing in my head ever since I read that book a few years ago - groboto just gave me the nudge I needed to finally do something about it.
