ENCYCLOPEDIA GALACTICA Edition 428193 - Earth English Definition: 'Continuous Quantum Field Source' A language English1 expression for a foriscientific2 phenomena purported to generate conventional energy from vacuum energy. At its heart is an apparently stable electro-weak field barrier. This barrier interrupts the creation-annihilation cycle of virtual particles predicted in Quantum Field theory3 - 'sic aiunt'. Simply due to the presence of this barrier, the source will generate a net flux of matter and energy. For civilizations of the Community4 who do not have the technical prowess, this concept is controversial as it appears to violate the first law of thermodynamics.5 For virtual particle-antiparticle pairs near such a barrier, the momentum of one particle may take it across the barrier before annihilation can occur. This compromises the electro-weak connection to its partner particle and annihilation is prevented or becomes far less likely. And unlike Hawking radiation,6 both particles become “measurable” in local space. Although the barrier is expected to cause the generation of as many particles as antiparticles, antiparticles (antimatter) are known to transition to particles (matter) more readily than the opposite direction.7 This imbalance gives rise to a net generation of matter from the source which becomes a centre of mass and gravitational attraction. The source may orbit around other bodies or visa-versa. The newly measurable particles may and do spontaneously transform into their equivalent energies though this is not always apparent to an observer. Quantum Electrodynamics predicts the potential of vacuum energies to be of the order of 10113 J/m3.8 To attain the energy output of the Sun an electro-weak barrier need be no larger than the 'diameter' of a neutron – 10-16m. This takes into account that less than 0.001% of all virtual particles would cross the barrier. However, data gleaned from Red civilizations9 concerning the phenomena make reference to electro-weak barriers on the scale of a hydrogen atom or larger – 5x10-11m – for stellar scale output. This speaks to lower than predicted vacuum energies, a smaller matter-antimatter imbalance or some further impediment to the release of source energies. One impediment is that electro-weak field barriers are not stable. In practice, a barrier can be generated through space field interferometry – a 'kink' in the fabric of space. But barriers decay with a half-life of two (2) picoseconds – 10-9s. Insufficient considering some sources have been observed for billions (109) years.10 But if a barrier is generated using multiple interfering standing waves in space, it may attain 'apparent stability'. The waves generate the barrier and re-generate the barrier. The barrier is held in a perpetual state of decay and reformation - 'sic aiunt'. There is debate as to whether this stasis is a form of time dilation as any measure of a barrier's age is slowed with respect to the outside universe. Sources emitting visible light are colloquially named 'sparklers' or by comparable translations. Some such sources have been deliberately placed in dark planetary systems to provide temperate zone conditions otherwise not attainable.
