Description

The "Deep Impact", Spacecraft lifted off successfully this morning to begin its mission to investigate the comet "Temple 1" by crashing into its surface on the Fourth of July 05! It is likely that these celestial nomads have the same chemical building blocks that led to the formation of water and life here on Earth. This Friday, January 14th The Huygens will be sent plunging to the surface of Saturn's moon Titan. Desending through the thick orange clouds, it will taste Titans atmosphere, measure its wind and rain, listen for aliens sounds and, when the clouds part, start taking pictures. No one knows what the probe may reveal, icy mountains? Liquid methane seas? Hot lightning? It's anyone's guess. The two-hour dissent to the surface of Saturn's moon will be broadcast live on NASA's web site and some TV programs. The photograph above was taken last night with a Nikon coolpix camera with a 20 Sec. exposure and a tripod. No telescope or tracking motor. Comments welcome keep looking up
