Description

My girlfriends little girl has been suffering constant nightmares since her grandmother passed away last year. When I heard of this I immediately thought of making her an angel. What I do is to take the doll and strip her of whatever she is wearing and design and make the gown by hand. The wings are handmade, the hair is restyled and a halo of feathers are added. I'm very particular about the expression of the doll as so many have a vacant stare. This particular doll was rescued from a box of toys my daughter no longer wanted. I regret not taking a before picture to appreciate the work. Evidently my daughter tried to restyle its hair at one time. I added liner on the underside of the upper eyelid to give the eyes a softer expression. The dolls hair took me three hours to comb and recurl. I'm still debating on whether or not to put a banner "Someone To Watch Over Me" on her. History of the Angels: Seven years ago Diane my bestfriend of 40yrs was diagnosed with stomach cancer, a few weeks later my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. Not more than a week later,Carol a close girlfriend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer. Diane lived in FL and on my last visit with her while she slept I made her a doll much like this one with a banner that said "Someone to watch over me". When I came home I made one for my Dad and Carol. My Dad and Diane passed away two weeks apart. Carol I am gloriously happy to say is a breast cancer survior. I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.

I honestly love this photo of this beautiful angel you made from the rescued doll. Reading the story behind it and how you made one's like it for the people in your life who were suffering is wonderful. I'm confident this doll will put your gf's little girl at ease. This is a wonderful thing you did
