Description

A year ago I was to a local dentist in Staffanstorp. She said I had 5 teeth that had to be extracted (which proved untrue). However, on the bus on the way home I suffered an extreme anxiety attack lasting 30 minutes. I've never had such before. My doctor suggested I go on sertralin to stop the attacks. Unfortunately, the sertralin made me very sick in the head (intense anxiety, feeling I was fainting, swelling head, or dying). The doctor took me off the medication. My reason for writing this is to ask you if any one of you have had this medication, and how did you react to it? I'm taking diazepam to reduce the intensity of my anxiety attacks. However, I'm having problems reading Renderosity and commenting. The site seems very slow, particularly after Google changed their e-mail format. Thanks for any information you can give me. :-)

Always consult your doctor. Also good idea to see a psychiatrist - I don't think (mo) that a regular MD is versed enough in these drugs.

This is actually a rather common reaction to sertraline or Zoloft. The effects can be mild or intense. Some people find that the symptoms lesson after a month or so. Others continue with the extreme symptoms and have to go off the drug. Doctors tend to try and talk people into giving it about three months, but as a nurse that has worked for said doctors for 35 years, I would have to say that the people with your level of reaction seldom got any better. Most family care doctors are able to prescribe this medicine, but some are not willing to deal with the issues that can come with it.

Thanks for the information, Bev. And for the manufacturers name. The tension in my head is the worst part, which is why I went off the drug. However, I need Zopiklone to get to sleep (10 mg), which is difficult despite the 10. mg Zopiclone dose. And Diazepam (10 mg) to combat the tension in my head after the Zopiklone. So my head, despite medication, is still tense. And thanks to Richardphotos for his informed comments (sounds like you've had some experience with this, Richard).

Now for something nicer - tonight is the Last Night at The Proms concert, from the Royal Albert Hall, London, as transmitted by Swedish radio from the BBC. ENJOY! https://sverigesradio.se/sida/avsnitt/1145713?programid=4427

sounds like one of those medicines that can cause more problems than solutions

my doctor prescribed a sleep aid for me, and it works too dang well. I slept all night and after walking I came home and slept another 3 hours

No experience at all with it, thankfully. Seems like most of these medications cause more problems than they fix. I rarely take anything stronger than aspirin or the occasional Advil.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Michael!
