Description

"He comes m'lord...and his wave of darkness with him..." Bowen, standing before the king, delivers the message somberly, bows, and moves alongside the regent. Arthur looks past him, down the hall, and waits, his mind and face, stern, but keen. "Many or all of us may die on the morrow. I would tell you all to find safe haven from the blackness that has decended. But I know your hearts too well. Here...we will make our stand. For better or worse." He pauses, looking up to the hall again, as the sound of booted heels advances towards them, louder and louder against the castle walls. A ring of men, and a black shadow enter the hall, moving right to the group of knights, as all draw their swords, and face the confronting party. "Hello father." The man, tall, dark, and dressed in silver and facemask, addresses the king, and raises his sword, pointing it towards Arthur. "I come for what is mine. Now! Resistance will bring no quarter. Surrender immediatly, and avoid the ugliness of bloodshed!" Arthur stares coldly at the knight, their eyes locked in a deathdance of wills. Slowly, he shakes his head, and points towards the window with his blade. "At dawn. We will be there, waiting. Come if you will. Die if you must...but we will not surrender. To take this castle, you must kill me. And my sworn knights here. Come...if you will!" Mordred nods, and smiles slightly under his mask. He looks from knight to knight, and his smile widens to a leering grin as his gaze locks on the Lady Alexandra, girded for battle. "Tis a shame I must kill you sweet maiden. I had other plans for you, that did not include death. Rather, more in the way of pleasures I had mused. But...your sword looks sharpened. Alas, in the heat of battle, your charms will not sway me. A pity. It will be heartbreaking to see your throat slashed in death's firm accords." Alexandra's face turns red, and she steps forward, starting to raise her sword, but Arthur holds up his hand, and she halts. "Nay lass. At dawn. Ye shall have your moment. If you stand before him on the field, he will surely regret his unchivalrous tongue. At dawn m'lady" Alexandra nods slowly, and her eyes lock on Mordred, fire and ice both emanating from them. Mordred clicks his heels, bows crisply, and salutes the gathered knights. "At dawn then. Prepare to die, all of you. There will be no quarter. And by morrows eve, I will sit at yon table with my knights and battlemage. We will toast your demise, and thank you for such a fine feast. Till we meet at dawn!" He turns, laughing, his mirth expressing louder and louder as he strolls out of the hall, and castle. Arthur watches, and his eyes narrow, as his head shakes in sad acknowlegement of the overwhelming odds. "Only a miracle will deter his ambition. To stop his wave of tyranny. I pray we find that power before the sun rises" Arthur looks around the entire room, and nods towards the wardroom. "Come. We will prepare our battleplan." He heads out, his knights following. All but Sir Melborn. He stands quietly, as silence falls in the room. Then, he reaches into his robe, drawing out a small, crystaline orb, and gazes into it. As he does, it glows, and the small figure of a dragon slowly takes form, solidifies, and...opens it's eyes.
