Description

Thanks for all the replies everyone. The troop carriers dropped their ramps when they got to within ten feet of the concrete. When they touched down, the rescue party jumped out, and the carriers lifted again. The teams then sprinted for the perimeter that Marko had set up. Several beings of varying races sat against a wall in binders, while three lay dead. "As you can see," Marko grinned at the others. "We had company. We told them to back off, but evidently these guys are dumb!" Marko rapped his knuckles on the top of one prisoner's head. "Ain't that right, Binky!" "What do we have down that tunnel?" Kirk asked. "Damned if I know!" Marko exclaimed. "Every attempt to get near it has resulted in a massive hail of stun bolts. And when we sent in a droid, it was destroyed!" Joshua looked to his cousin Ami. "Let's see what there is to see, Cuz," Both accelerated to the entrance. Ami stood ready on one side while Joshua ran across the opening. And just as Marko had said, a hail of blue stun bolts filled the air. But they were too late, Joshua was already kneeling out of sight on the other side. "We have two droids with multi barrel blasters," Kirk's voice came over the communicators, holding up two fingers. "Looks like typical type 13 Coruscant Cybernetics security droids," Pulling an ion grenade from his belt, he threw it into the opening. A brilliant white light flashed for a brief instant, followed by the sounds of crashing. Stepping out, he fired a shot into each brainbox. Berring then carried a device that he set up in front of the entrance. When it was ready, he flipped a switch and a force field popped up around the tube leading down. "Shields!" Marko said as he pulled his people within the field. "Now we don't have to worry about the natives." "Ok, everybody," Joshua said as he waved the entry team to himself. "Melee, Mulk, and Zana. You're with me. Ami and Ugly, you take Kaleena, Xin, and Baby. Other than myself, Karyn and Ano are our best shots, so they're staying top side as snipers. Like Marko, I don't trust the locals." All nodded and crept down the tunnel, Ami holding a tricorder before her. "Nothing on the other side of the doors," She said. "Doors are locked though." "Not for long!" Kirk said with a smile as he pulled out an illegal filament cutter. Thrusting it into the top of the door, he brought the handle about in a large circle. A second later, the durasteel fell inward with a loud crash. "Knock, knock." "Oh, I'm quite sure whatever is running security knows we're here now," Marko said as he formed his team around the entrance. "Happy hunting!" He called out as they quickly entered. "Boxik, let's go rescue our boys," Megrin Duss whispered to his gang's leader, Noll Boxik. "Are you fucking nuts?" The gaunt Devaronian demanded. "There's no way we are going out there. Shit! You saw the way those two bastards moved. We wouldn't stand a chance." "So you're going to let them take Rang and the others?" "Fuck 'em, they tried to jump those armored troops on their own!" The red skinned man said angrily. Light from the rooms single lamp glinting off his one unbroken horn. Duss fired the blaster he was holding, taking off the front of Boxik's skull. "Anyone else want to pussy out like our former leader?" They all shook their heads emphatically. "Good, let's go kill these pricks and rescue our buds!" The eight turned to file out of the room, only to find themselves staring down the blasters of six men, a woman, and a badly scarred teenage girl, who immediately opened fire. In seconds the thugs were dead. The girl crept to the window and peered out at the intruders. She found two of them staring up at the window, rifles held at the ready. "I'm going down to go talk to them," She told the others. "Gather up the equipment these goons have and head back to base. Uncle Rango, you're coming with me," The others gave a quick nod and went about their work. "Look alive!" Ano told Karyn as she stared into the darkness, her eyes glowing red. "We have guests." Even though it was two in the afternoon, it was dark down at ground level. Sunlight penetrated to the bottom of the canyon for only about one hour a day. Out of the gloom strode a girl of about fourteen accompanied by a hulking middle aged man who carried an old blaster rifle. The girl wore an odd hat over her head, a pair of goggles hiding her eyes. But what could not be hidden were the scars that covered her face. Scars from burns and cuts. And there was a slight deformation to the jaw that said it had been broken and never set properly. But that was the outside. Ano felt what was hidden inside. There was an incredible thirst for revenge. When the newcomer glanced over at the prisoners, she felt the desire to kill all of them. "You must be the girl we've heard about from these clowns," Karyn told her. "The one killing off the thugs down here." "Yep, that's me!" The girl said with a grin. "And I was wondering what you were going to do with them." "Weeell," Karyn said in a contemplative tone. "I get the feeling that if we left them here, you would just execute them." "You got that right!" The man said in a voice that rumbled like a glacier. "They have it coming." "Yeah, well we'll take them topside and hand them over to the cops. If they're wanted for anything, then they can keep them," The older woman turned to the men who were eyeing the girl with fear and hatred. "The rest will be let go. I doubt very much if they'll come back down here. You have them spooked, girl!" The girl nodded and waved to the prisoners. "I doubt the cops will have anything on any of them," She said with a shrug. "None of them have ever been topside. Except the cute blonde. He came down about a year ago. We think he did something bad up where the sun shines." "Well, we'll have him checked out," Ano added. "No!" The man said quickly, pointing at one of the prisoners. "He's mine!" "I take it you two have a history?" Marko asked as he turned to the terrified gang member. "He was my son," Rango rumbled quietly. "He killed his own brother for refusing to join their gang. So I'm going to return the favor." "What are you going to do with their equipment?" The girl asked. "It's yours if you want it," Karyn told her. The girl then looked over to the entrance to the lab. "What's down there?" "Just some kind of lab," Ano said. "Don't know what kind of work they did in there though. Some of it had to involve computers. My brother did some work here. He's in there now." "That's your brother that showed up a few weeks back?" The man asked. "He's a cute little guy," The girl said with a smile. "But that's a deadly droid he brought with him. He was jumped by one of the gangs down here when he arrived, the Razors. Droid killed eight of them. The Mandalorians that were here took out the other five," The scarred teen cocked her head. "I guess they found out how to disable the droidekas." "Droidekas?" Ano shot back at her. "Are you sure there are droidekas in there?" "Oh, yeah," The tall man assured them. "I saw the Imperials bring them in myself. It was about twenty years ago. They brought in an army of the yellow and black clankers. But then they off loaded ten droidekas. Those damned things are scary," Ano quickly called in to those inside, warning them of the threat. "Any chance we can get in there when you're done doing whatever it is you want to do in there?" The girl asked hopefully. "We'll remove anything really dangerous," Karyn said. "The rest is your's." "We'll take the whole place. It'll make a great new command center," She suggested to her uncle. "And maybe we can use some of those droids." "What I want to know," The older man told Karyn and Ano. "Is why your eyes are glowing red." "We have the ability to see in the infrared spectrum," Ano explained to the pair. "When we do this, our eyes glow red." The girl pondered the things they'd told her, then nodded. "Take them topside then. But make sure you tell them it's a death sentence to come back down here," The two then spun about and jogged off, their prisoner's head hanging dejectedly. "Hear that Binky?" Marko asked his prisoner. "You're going on a trip."
