Description

Salt Crystal Rock lamps are a relatively new home decorating item and are often associated with alternative healing practices. A Salt Crystal Rock lamp is made from a large piece of natural sea salt with a cavity carved into the bottom to hold an electric light bulb. The salt is semitransparent, allowing the light to shine through. They come in a variety of sizes and they supposedly come from locations near the Himalayan Mountains that give it a pinkish red color. Many sellers claim that the presence of the negative ions, produced by the warm protohistoric crystals, in a living area, will impart certain health benefits, to its owner but these claims are largely considered to be unproven by the scientific community. Information from in store handout. Zoom is not worth it. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

One of those came through as a donation. I may still buy it, though not for the 'health' reasons, just because I think it is cool looking Thanks for that link - that was way cool!

I've got one sitting on my desk. It does seem to help with my allergies. And if nothing else it is very peaceful to look at and makes a great night light. Nice photo!

Most unusual Dana. Did you add one to your home? Of course I like the light as it glows from within.

They look nice but the "presence of the negative ions, produced by the warm protohistoric crystals" is just amusing bafflegab.
